Yesterday, we caught up with some friends from our earlier Washington days. The neighborhood of Del Ray has a Halloween parade that resembles Macy's Christmas Parade in terms of sheer number of participants. Marian has been steadfastly sticking to her plan to be an elephant and so Michael spent most of yesterday morning sewing, painting and gluing bits of the costume together. We did not figure on the temperature reaching into the mid-70s, however, so she was one hot elephant for most of the day. Joseph has been less vocal about his Halloween costume but if the costume fits...wear it.
It was a great day--perfect weather for a birthday trip to the zoo. For our grand finale, Joseph took a spin on his first carousel. He loved it. It's been a great day and we're all thoroughly worn out.
It's a improbable statistic. Joseph is the fourth generation on Michael's side of the family to be born on the fourth of October. We were lucky to have three of the four (Mur, Grandaddy and Joseph) together for dinner yesterday. We sure did miss Aunt Katie but Marian was happy to take her place blowing out the candles and eating her purple icing.
